Working at Hatched Creative Agency, I led the redesign of the Brave the Shave campaign for Macmillan Cancer Support, breathing new life into this already successful fundraising initiative - for two years in a row.
The campaign centred on a rethink about how the use of candid photography could capture the emotion and spirit of the shaves. By placing the shaver at the center of the campaign and using first-person personal motivations as headlines, our approach celebrated the individuals involved and effectively communicated the essence of Brave the Shave to a wider audience.
Connecting with future brave shavers through digital
Macmillan’s research indicated that the majority of Brave the Shave sign ups were now directed from digital advertising. Adverts ranged from engaging animated clippers moving across the screen to reveal copy to carousels revealing Sallie’s shave story.
